My Family Is Made Up Of…

Two dogs and a boy. I guess I should phrase it more like, two kids and a boy. In some people’s eyes, we have the perfect family. One boy and one girl. Except they’re dogs. Which is is usually a better thing, but sometimes not. Last I checked you didn’t have to wipe off a child’s paws every time they came in the house from running around the muddy lawn. But times change and who knows what crazy people are doin’ nowadays. But I’ll go ahead and type up a couple of paragraphs about my little Family I have goin’ on over here.

Cutest Boy EVER!These cute puppy dogs are killin’ me with their adorableness. When they are so tired and lazy around the house, they are at their absolute cutest. Astro is especially cute when he is sleepy. He always curls up or lays in the cutest positions. He doesn’t really snore much or make much noise but he sure does get grumpy when you bother him. If I kiss him on his nose or touch him when it is really late and he is tired, he does this deep growl thing. It’s SO cute. I always pop him on the nose and tell him to stop being such a grouchypantsman. Oh and one reason I always have more pictures of Astro than Emma is because like most Danes, he is a super sluggish guy! He stands “still” a LOT so it is always easy to get good, crisp upload shots.

Emma GirlOn the other hand, Emma is the hardest dog to take pictures of! She is constantly on the move. Constantly turning her head to the left and right. Constantly hearing every tiny little sound and wondering where its coming from. She is most definitely our watch dog. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so protected and loved by a dog than I do by her. She just gives us that feeling that she is always watching out for us. She is a lot more defensive if we’re at the house and people come over or she hears noises outside. She is such a sweet dog and I can’t even begin to describe how smart she is. She definitely knows her stuff!

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words, Right? Here is a picture in which Gene is trying to ride our dog. I know, I know, it’s horrible. And don’t go getting all crazy on me and shouting ANIMAL ABUSE! at me. He wasn’t actually putting weight on him. Astro wouldn’t allow it anyway. Since Gene has been trying to ride him since he was roughly 4 months old, he has been pretty ANTI-RIDING :P The dog FREAKS out and bucks around like a crazy bull. But sometimes he will just SIT down and I know Astro is laughing deep down. He is like, you stupid guy you can’t ride a SITTING HORSE MUAHAHAHA! Anyway.. So this is Gene, in all of his silly cute boyness. I just want to wrap him up in my arms and hold him SO tight sometimes. I don’t wanna lose him, ever! This guy is my BEST friend.

P.S. I don’t know if I’ll be posting while I’m gone. We’re going to attempt to go to our Family Christmas thing this weekend, which is 3 hours away! And if you’ve seen the news lately, the weather here aint so great. So wish us a safe trip and I’ll post whenever we get back, either Sunday night or Monday sometime.

Say goodbye to fast food

I made the decision today at work that I am going to be eating healthier from now on. No cheating! My biggest goal to start off with is the goal of no more fast food. I am vowing that I will only eat food we have in our house! Even if I eat the “bad” stuff in our house, it is still healthier than eating grease-soaked fast food. Because I’ve made this resolution, I now need to go grocery shopping to stock up on some healthier items like fruits and veggies. I’ll probably go with the frozen variety because we never eat the fresh produce fast enough. I hate throwing food away that has spoiled!

My throat hurts really bad. I have no idea if something is coming on or if it is just due to the frigid cold weather but I feel like there is this painful lump in the back of my throat whenever I swallow. Everyone I know is sick right now and I’m just crossing my fingers that it doesn’t infect me. The last thing I need right now is to get sick. I’ve got to make it to Christmas next weekend so I can see my family from out of town and my Grandparents. I can’t be around my Grandma if I’m ill because she is so fragile right now.

I’m printing the last of the Save The Date cards right now. After this I plan to generate the “envelopes” for our Christmas cards and get those printed. If I can get our Christmas cards mailed out by early next week I will be VERY proud of myself! We aren’t doing any special “photo” cards this year. I decided with wedding invites and everything else I’ve got going on, I don’t really need to pile that on my plate as well.

We put some Christmas decorations up outside tonight. I lined one side of the driveway with lights and also put a lighted garland up around the front door. It’s pretty much going to be the extent of our decorating this year. We just didn’t have time to do the outdoor lights this year. It got way too cold, way too quickly and when it is freezing cold outside it is not fun to put lights up at all. Right now it is 45° out but I’ve heard that we have some rain/ice in the forecast for the weekend. Well, better go let the puppies out.  Going to give them baths tonight and wash their crate bedding.

You Tube Virgin No More

Since I have absolutely nothing to write about because my back hurts so bad and I’ll spare you from the whining and moaning of that, I uploaded my very first video to You Tube today.. Enjoy!

Goodbye Dear Insert Key

I got the stitches out but I can’t take a shower until Saturday morning :( Or so she said.. I am so taking a shower Friday night! I also have to shower with my back facing the shower head as to not let water hit directly onto the knee. Lame!! I just want to take a bath and SOAK. Why can’t I soak??? Gees. As if this hasn’t been enough torture as it is, but let’s not let the poor girl shower for 4 weeks. I wouldn’t be so bitchy if I was casted on survivor and this was happening. I mean, then at least I would be getting PAID to not shower for 4 weeks.

I do get to take the ugly white panty hose off, so that’s good. Tonight I am going to attempt to shave both of my legs so that I am not a hairy gorilla walking around everywhere anymore. Therapy was okay this evening but it took over 2 hours again. I got my new keyboard and mouse (cordless, Logitech brand) and they are both SOOO freakin’ sweet! The mouse is a laser mouse and it is smoothe. The keyboard?? It’s a quiet keyboard and types OH SO BEAUTIFULLY! So I can now denounce my Dell keyboard… I hate you Dell keyboards!!!! Now I just have to get used to the ass backwards placement of the Delete, Home and Enter keys. Hey… where’s the useless insert key? Sweet… someone FINALLY got smart! You know how many times I’ve accidentally hit that key and screwed everything up??

That’s all. Emma is still limping pretty badly. Guess I am going to take her to the Vet sometime in early April when my Therapy appointments are only 2 times per week. Going to shell over a bunch of money for a Vet to tell me she has torn an ACL and needs surgery or that she has a bone and joint disease. Either way, it’s gonna be pricey and not going to be good news. Right now we are supplementing all kinds of nzymes into their diet. We started both dogs on Eagle Pack dog food and their flatulence has completely GONE. I am SOLD. No more dog farts!!

The Incredibly Insane Dog Post

Tonight’s post is going to focus on my doggies. I love them so much. They are my two children! I have been doing a lot of research into their nutrition and what kind of things are good for them to eat and what supplements I need to get. See, I have a Great Dane and I have been pretty “aware” of his health since we first got him. I’ve done countless hours of research online trying to find the best food and nutrition for him. Great Danes average a 7-8 year lifespan, you could possibly get a few extra years out of them if they come from an excellent blood line and if they are fed and cared for properly.

Due to it being such a short lifespan and due to the illnesses they are prone to (Hip Dysplasia, Bloat, Heart Disease, etc.), there are some special things they need in order to live the healthiest and happiest life they can live! Below I will discuss some of my findings. These things are not just for Great Danes. I have an Australian Shepherd/Heeler mix that is going to be on the same diet. Continue reading

Doggy Flatulance becomes a nuisance

I just got home a little while ago from shopping :) I went with the awesome Della! I got some new jeans, a shirt, some shoes, a wooden box to hold tea bags, some cute glasses, flip flops, and some awesome smelling Papaya lotion! Was there anything else?? I don’t know. I don’t think so. I am a shopping addict. I realize this. Do you think I’ll make it on the show Intervention? Maybe at some point.

Doggies are being good tonight. I don’t wanna jinx it but I just had to document it here, lol. They must have worn themselves out when Della came by to pick me up because they are both exhausted. Just laying around the house like a bunch of lazy pooches. Their flatulance has gotten pretty unbearable lately so I may be changing their food soon. We just bought a bag of the Chicken Soup dog food (we’ve been feeding them this for about a year now) but I may be switching over to Eagle Pack sometime soon to see if they do any better on it. They’re both good holistic food choices but I am thinking the Eagle Pack may be a little better as far as their digestive systems go. I know flatulance is expected from a Great Dane but I am concerned about Emma’s, as she has never really had problems before. Silly kids.

Anyway, I guess that is all for tonight. I am gonna get ready for bed soon. I am really going to try my best to get into bed by 11-ish tonight. I can’t seem to make it in bed before 12 these days! It sure would help with my energy level at work. I’ve been having a hard time concentrating and getting things done. Been feeling extremely  unproductive :/ I hate that!

Good Food and Bad Dogs

Tonight Gene made meatloaf and I made Green Beans Amandine. Yesterday I was thawing out what I thought was ground turkey for turkey chili but when I grabbed the bag out of the microwave after the defrost had finished, I was greeted with a zip-loc bag full of darkish meat and blood! Ewww.. Ground turkey never has blood in the bag! I realized this was a leftover bag of ground beef from who-knows-when that I had in the freezer! Woops. So I threw that bag in the fridge and found the ground turkey I had originally meant to defrost and started the whole process over again! So, tonight we had meatloaf made with ground beef (so not on my diet!). I made Green Beans Amandine (fancy way of saying Green Beans with almonds). Oh and snapped a few of the dogs. Check out my flickr, I added some photos there. Oh and of course, photos of our last Sushi Extravaganza :) I loooove sushi!

So now I am going to go find something else to do. Once again I’ve spent entirely too much time on the computer. I hate that because whenever I do get on the computer it feels like time just flies right by. The next thing I know it is 1 AM and I can’t figure out where the last 4 hours went. Does anyone else have this problem??
