A Parenting WIN!

I need to start writing more, even if they aren’t Academy Award Winning Posts. I need to document the little things Zoey does so I can look back on them and remember it all. I’ve focused so much on living in the moment that I have forgotten to write stuff down.

So anyway, right now Zoey is sitting on her own. She’s been sitting on her own since right around when she turned 6 months old. She was super fussy the week of Oct 20th and I didn’t know WHAT was going on. I seriously wanted whoever stole my sweet daughter to please return her to me and take this Devil Child away. It lasted about 3 days and then voila! All back to normal. I guess in hindsight I am noticing it had to have been the shots that day that turned her into the Devil Child.

So far she hasn’t rejected any of the food we’ve given her. She has had peas, carrots, apples, sweet potatoes and butternut squash. I make all of her food and I love doing it! I have given her some jarred baby food from the store when we’re out or out of town.. but I love giving her stuff that I’ve made because I know exactly how it’s been prepared!

This morning I was on my way home from the Chiropractor and I know she was tired because she was sitting in her car seat making a wide variety of noises. Mostly yelling and shouting. Not screaming/crying, just making very loud squeeling noises, which she tends to do when she is really sleepy and fighting The Sleep Monster. As I turned into our neighborhood entrance, I heard some very serious grunting noises and then looked back and she had passed out! Right as I was turning into our drive way!! Grrr. I hate that. So I carried my crap in the house and then went out to get her out of the seat. I tried to gently carry her into her crib and successfully got her down without waking her up.. And man she reeks of poop! But if you think I’m gonna wake my sleeping daughter up to change a poopy diaper, you got another thing comin’! It is kind of chilly this morning, so I figured maybe it will keep her warm.. Ha! Parenting WIN!

So I’ve got the windows open, the blinds open.. the house is bright and sunshiney and I feel good again!

Thanks Giving #4

Today I am thankful for my Chiropractor. I battled some really, really, really awful back problems back in September and into October and my Chiropractor has helped me tremendously with it. He is a really nice guy and I feel “at home” whenever I go see him for my adjustments. When I don’t have a sitter, the girls in his office will hold/watch Z while I have my adjustments done and they just oooh and ahhh over how adorable she is. My Chiropractor also cut me some MAJOR slack when it came to paying for my treatment plan since my insurance would only cover a limited amount and he knew I needed more because of how much pain I was in. He is a wonderful person and I think without him, I would still be laying in bed, crying and feeling depressed from how much pain I was in.

Afterall, he did give me back the ability to hold my daughter again!! Those few weeks without holding her were miserable.

Thanks Giving #2 & #3

I missed yesterdays.. So I’ll play catch up!

Yesterday, I was extremely thankful for having great friends! Zoey and I drove out (well, I drove and she rode, hee hee) to a friend’s house and spent the good part of an afternoon with her. We just hung out, talked, ate lunch and just had a great time being together. It is soooo awesome to have some adult interaction like that from time to time. Sometimes I worry that I might start tickling random strangers and saying “Goochy Goochy Goo” and “Tickle Tickle” and “I’m gonna eat that yummy baby neck!”

Today, I am thank for the beautiful weather we are having! Mother Nature has been more than generous by giving us over 6 days of beautiful clear skies, bright sunshine and temperatures that don’t go much farther than seventy. The windows are open and I can hear the soft crinkle of dried leaves lightly blowing across the lawn. This is fall! Zoey and I are most definitely going on a little afternoon walk when she gets up from her nap. Can’t miss this weather for the world!

I am stealing this idea from Laura. I think we could all take a couple of minutes out of our day each day to give thanks to all of the wonderful things and people in our lives.

My little punkin’ is waking up from her nap so I’ll start my Thanks Giving right there! I am thankful, oh so so so thankful for my sweet baby girl, Zoey. She has changed my life in so many ways. I love her more and more every single day.
