Still sick

I’m still sick. Gene and I went out this morning / early afternoon to try to do a little Christmas shopping. I came home exhausted and slept a little this afternoon. My throat is absolutely killing me and now my lips are getting really chapped again.

I’m going to sleep all night and all day tomorrow. <3

Friday Five!

I feel like such a loser because the only time I ever seem to do Friday Fives is when I am doing a blogging marathon of some sort. Oops. Either way, I heart you Friday 5, I really do!

1. What usually marks the middle of your day? I’d say 1 PM, about an hour after my lunch break.

2. From whom (or to whom) was your most recent middle-of-the-night phone call? No one? I used to get them all of the time when the place I work at was a 24 hour operation and I was always on call.

3. On what social, political, economic, or moral issue are you in the middle of the road? Abortion, I guess. I understand when it necessary if someone’s life is in danger, it is a situation of rape or whatever. But I hate the fact that so many irresponsible people in this world use it as a form of birth control. I really have a hard time and I can’t really decide whether I am pro choice or pro life. I totally believe in Women’s Rights but I also understand that some people abuse their rights ;D

4. How likely are you to give someone your middle finger? Not often. I tend to get steamy and yell in my car if someone cuts me off and I FORGET to flip them off. I’ve jokingly flipped the hubby off before.. But one time he licked my finger when I did it and it grossed me out LOL We’re dorks, shut up.

5. When were you last caught in the middle of a disagreement that really had nothing to do with you? I am in them ALL of the time at work. There are coworkers who don’t really care for each other and I tend to be in the middle of it since I am friends with both of them. Otherwise I’m never really caught in the middle of conflict. I try to stay away from drama. I hate it! Which is probably why I have very few friends, hah. I LOVE my sometimes boring life ;D

13 Weeks

I’ve already failed at NaBloPoMo. Hmph. I’m really disappointed in myself but I was really, really ill yesterday and literally spent the entire day in bed.

I have no idea what happened but on Tuesday night my throat started hurting and in just a few hours it had progressed so badly that I felt like there was a baseball stuck in the back of my throat. My head felt really weird and whenever I would move too quickly, I would get a dizzy feeling. I was also starting to have body aches and a tingly feeling all over. I had no fever so I have no idea what was going on. I was even WORSE when I got up on Wednesday morning. I was able to get in to work to see my guys out for their first job and then I had to go to the doctor because I had thrown up TWICE while at work. Which, by the way, is NOT FUN.

So the walk-in clinic couldn’t help me. They said my throat was REALLY red and swollen but my strep test was negative. It’s a medical mystery, I guess. I followed up with my OBGYN yesterday afternoon and they just said there is a virus going around and there isn’t much you can do. They couldn’t find the heart beat on the doppler yet (remember: I’m a pretty “big” woman, so some pregnancy milestones will come a little later for me) so we did an ultrasound and got to hear the heartbeat and see the Lil Ninja again.

The head was MUCH more proportionate to the body now and we could definitely see the long arms and legs. Baby was movin’ all over the place. Looked like he/she was havin’ a dancin’ party in there :D Doctor guestimated that the heart rate was around 140-150. She said it definitely wasn’t 170 or anything like that.

We go back for another monthly check-up on December 3rd (I will be 17 weeks then) and then she is scheduling me an appointment with a high risk doctor to have our 18-20 week BIG ultrasound after that. The reason she is scheduling me with a high risk doctor is because I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

I am starting my gestational diabetes diet over hardcore starting now. It was really easy to follow and I took a week off. So back on the wagon I go! I got a cute little notepad to keep with me at all times so I can log my blood sugars. My OBGYN wants me to bring them with me to her visits every month so she can keep track of them.

I’m so excited because I think we’ll know the sex of the baby BEFORE Christmas!!!

Well that is all for now. Gene and I had gone to the Zoo for a couple of hours on Sunday and I need to download the pictures from that off of my camera. We only walked about HALF of the Zoo and I was BEAT. I keep having to tell myself that the reason I am exhausted so quickly is due to a certain little baby that is stealing all of my energy (and IMMUNE SYSTEM, ahem) and not necessarily that I am an out of shape loser. Hah.

Sick? AGAIN?

Can’t really say much tonight. I’m going to bed early. I do not feel well at all. My head feels kind of wishy-washy. I don’t even know how to describe it. I’ve had a headache for a few hours now and my throat is hurting and ears feel sore. I’m tired and just feeling yucky.

If I am getting sick or a sinus infection again I am going to be SO mad. I am sooo sick of being sick!

What gives??

Meal Planning… Like a REAL wife!

So I’ve finally, after many many years, got my stuff together and am starting to plan our meals. Right now I started simple and just typed up meal ideas in a Microsoft Word calendar and put it on the fridge. I’m hoping in the future to get more detailed in my lists, including lunch & maybe even breakfast. But I have to start small when it comes to something so monumental like this. So here is my menu for the month of November:

Nov-3: Goulosh (SP?)
Nov-4: Chicken, Broccoli, Rice & Cheese Casserole
Nov-5: Boca Burgers & steamed veggies
Nov-6: Leftover night!
Nov-7: Lean Cuisine Pizza

Nov-10: Chicken & Rice crockpot meal
Nov-11: Tator Tot Casserole
Nov-12: Turkey Chili & Cornbread
Nov-13: Leftover night!
Nov-14: Lean Cuisine Pizza

Nov-17: Grilled Chicken Sandwiches
Nov-18: BBQ Polish Sausages w/Mac ‘n Cheese
Nov-19: Lasagna
Nov-20: Leftover night!
Nov-21: Lean Cuisine Pizza

Nov-24: BLT Sandwiches
Nov-25: Meatloaf & Sauteed onions & potatoes
Nov-26: Baked Potato Soup
Nov-27: THANKSGIVING LUNCH & DINNER!
Nov-28: LEFTOVER THANKSGIVING FOOD!!

So, I tried my best not to use the same meal more than once in the entire month. It was hard because I tend to stick to easy stuff that I KNOW how to make. I hate that I’m like that, but sometimes I get overwhelmed. Plus, it is a LOT cheaper to cook things that I have ingredients on hand for. The goulosh we had for supper was yumtastic. I made Fiber One Apple Cinnamon muffins (A double batch) for dessert and for our breakfasts for the next couple weeks.

So do you meal plan? If so, got any meals to recommend?

NaBloPoMo Loser :-(

That’s me. Here it is 8:30 PM on a Sunday night and I’m ready to get in bed. I almost forgot to write here for my daily post. I am so tired and worn out that there really aren’t any words. Instead, I’ll steal a little meme from Jen.

NaBloPoMo

I was FINALLY able to get my registration in on time and I have officially joined NaBloPoMo this year! I can’t even begin to tell everyone HOW excited I am about this. Last year I attempted to do my own version of it in December since I missed registration and it kinda-sorta worked out but not really.

So expect lots of posts from me in the very near future. Today we have a busy day of taking the dogs to the vet to get updated on their annual shots and then going to North Pole City to buy our annual Christmas ornament. I am beyond excited to drive our brand spankin’ new car around ;)

Oh I forgot to mention, we bought a new car. It’s a 2008 Honda CRV in Nighthawk Black Pearl, which is actually just SHINY BLACK in normal people speak. I plan for my next post to be ALL about our brand new baby [the car] and then every post after that will be about our upcoming baby [the real one] because that seems to encompass everything I do these days.
