A farewell to November

Well November, you have been a pretty good month. However, I have to admit that this has been by far the fastest moving month so far this year. It really seems like we were just starting November and all of a sudden, it’s over. This has been a mild November for us okies and I’m sure for a lot of other states out there. Usually we’ve had at least some snow flurries by now but there is no sign of temperatures that cold.

I’m looking forward to the first snow, even if it is a few little snow flurries that don’t stick to the ground. I need something that signifies that we are entering Winter. Right now it seems like some kind of on and off Battle of the Seasons between Fall and Winter. And truly? I have no idea who is winning. Some days it is in the 70s and some days it is in the 40s or 50s. This is the kind of wonky weather that totally throws my sinuses off track. I’m trying everything in my power to stay healthy and NOT get ill with a sinus infection again. I am sick of those darn things!

My Thanksgiving was great. We didn’t do Black Friday shopping. I really can’t remember if we even did last year or not but there were horrible “deals” (if you can even call them that) this year. Also, after hearing that a poor man died at Walmart by being trampled to death, I realized that maybe Black Friday shopping may be on our list of Things To Boycott. I don’t want to be involved in craziness that risks people’s lives. I spoke with a friend who works at Walmart nearby and she said they had a fight break out while people were running to the merchandise. I don’t understand why people become to violent when it comes to all of these stupid material possessions? It makes me sick and embarrassed to even be of the same species as them.

My BIL and SIL came in to work with their 2 week old baby, so I did get to spend an evening with an adorable newborn. It made me SO excited and so ready to have this baby. When Gene was holding the baby I just felt like, wow this is going to be my life in 5 short months. It’s amazing! Also, a friend from out of town came to town to visit and catch up with people so it was really great to hang out with her. We walked around Target, went to eat Pho and ice cream. It was a nice visit! I felt like it was a great long weekend for catching up with old friends and family and just hanging out with my husband and my family as well. Good times!

I did buy a few things that were on sale, but not until late evening, so I personally don’t think it counts as Black Friday shopping. I got a game for my Nintendo DS Lite and I Also got a few movies: Peter Pan, Rush Hour 3 and 101 Dalmations. My Disney collection is coming together nicely. I’m glad to know that my kids will have a nice stack of (ahem, GOOD) Disney movies to watch as they get older. A lot of the classics that I also enjoyed as a child.

Today has been a lazy one. I wrapped all of the gifts I have bought for people so far (almost done!) and watched part of Santa Claus The Movie (my FAVORITE classic Christmas movie), fell asleep on the couch and just woke up from a call from my Mom inviting us over for dinner tonight.

We’re finding out the sex of the baby in just 10 short days!!!

Heartburn. 3am. Enough said.

Here I am, at 3:00 AM, writing up a blog post. Why? Because I’ve technically been awake since 12 AM when I first awoke with really bad heartburn and sweating. Now I’m sitting at my computer, too scared to go lay back down in fear of the heartburn returning. I haven’t had an ounce of heartburn up until yesterday and today. And guess what? We’re out of Tums! I’ve been drinking milk but I always have to drink water after I drink milk to get that aftertaste out of my mouth and that just leads to MORE heartburn. It’s a vicious cycle!

Anyway, so I am sitting here, completely amazed that I am pregnant. I am only 16 weeks but am trying to pay more attention to how my tummy feels so that I can notice any movement in there. I am a big girl and probably wont really feel anything until 20-25 weeks or so, but I am trying to become more in tune with my body and what it needs or is trying to tell me.

I am so excited to have this baby and I am so excited that I have such an awesome man to share this experience with. He has made it extra exciting just by showing his own excitement. I’m a lucky woman!

Oh one more thing.. We got an appointment with a high risk doctor on December 10th for my big ultrasound. I will be 18 weeks that week and really looking forward to finding out the sex. Everyone I know is guessing a girl and all of the “gender predictor charts” online are predicting a girl. I don’t really care either way, as long as I have a healthy baby. Anyone got an predictions or guesses?

Oh and if you wanna swap Christmas cards, please email me (girlhaq at gmail dot com) so that we can swap addresses.

Happy Thanksgiving if I don’t talk to anyone before then!! Have a great one and remember to stuff yourself silly :) It’s the only day of the year that it is perfectly okay to be in a food coma!

Week 16… ALREADY?

Tomorrow we will officially be in Week 16 of this pregnancy. Week 16! I can’t even believe it, myself. Where in the world has time gone?

So we’ll be having an OBGYN visit in 10 days, we will be 17 weeks then. In that appointment we will schedule our “big” ultrasound with a high risk doctor sometime between weeks 18 and 20. Hopefully sooner than later! I am going to call tomorrow to see if I can go ahead and get it scheduled and find out who the doctor is. I am really anxious to find out the sex or at least see the baby again. With my luck the little booger will be hiding his/her “stuff” and we’ll be left in the dark! Hah. Think positive!

Tomorrow starts the beginning of a 3 day work week for me. Woohoo! Office is closed on Thursday and I’m taking Black Friday off. Gene and I are kind of hoping we can find a good deal on a camcorder but not going to hold my breath for it. I may be getting too old for this Black Friday Shopping nonsense. I remember last year I was completely pooped and felt like I was going to pass out while we were out shopping.

Next weekend will be a busy one. Brother in law and Sister in law are coming to town and we will get to meet their brand new little munchkin :) I can’t wait. I am BEYOND excited to hold a baby!!! Also, a friend who I haven’t seen in over a year is going to be in town and there is hopes of us getting to meet up as well. Sounds busy but lots of fun.

Today Gene and I got all of our indoor Christmas decorations up. Our tree looks BEAUTIFUL. Last year I purchased a pre-lit tree on clearance at Target for about $5. It is either 6 or 7 ft and it’s really gorgeous. I also decorated our fireplace mantle and it looks beautiful as well. I’ve got all of my wrapping paper in the house and I’m ready to start wrapping the gifts I’ve already got so far. I am not waiting until the last minute to do all of this. I’m determined to get it done early so that there is minimal stress involved in the upcoming holidays.

I swear sometime this week I will download pictures off of my camera and upload them to Flickr. I feel like such a slacker on Flickr lately. Just haven’t had the energy to snap any photos lately. I probably already forgot how to use my DSLR.

P.S. If you haven’t noticed I miserably failed NaBloPoMo. Oops. I tried, at least.

I may be a convert…

I wish I had a laptop. I can’t seem to find time to go into the computer room, sit down at my desktop and type up an entry. Ugh.

Since I have the greatest hubby known to man, I may be getting a Macbook Pro sometime soon. One of the new ones. Mmmm, sexy :) He knows it will help me out a lot to have a laptop whenever we have the baby than have to rely on making time to go sit down at my desktop every time I need to use the computer. See, isn’t he a thoughtful guy?

I’ll admit, I’m a windows user. A “PC User” as they call it. Though I hate that terminology. I’ve used Windows since I was a wee one (about 8 years old). I’m a little gun shy when it comes to Macs but I don’t doubt my ability to learn quickly. Hubby is an “IT” type guy at his job and so he does have to help people out with their Macs occasionally. He is the one who has brought me on to this idea of getting a Macbook. Now I’m all gung-ho and want my Macbook right now! See? I’m already referring to it as MY Macbook.

Feeling SO much better

After those AWESOME antibiotics and lots of rest, I am finally feeling better. No more sinus pain, my eyes are clearing up. They’re still tinged with pink a little but they aren’t bothering me anymore. I’ve woken up the last couple of days with a little bit of crust around my eyes but nothing that is causing them to stick together or anything.

Now.. back to regular life. You know, cleaning, doing dishes, cooking, etc. May even go out on a limb and break out the DSLR again. It’s been so long since I used it. The only problem is that it is DARK outside when I get off work at 5 PM. I hate that!

Btw, can I put my Christmas decor up yet? The inside stuff, at least?

Sinus Infection: The Story of My Life

So I went to the doctor yesterday morning and got the official diagnosis of Sinus Infection. The two words I’ve grown to loathe over the last few months. It seems as if the excess drainage caused by the excessive blood flow which was in turn caused by this pregnancy is really trying to kick my already-tired butt! I can’t shake this sinus infection. It’s been on and off since the beginning of October and boy am I tired of it.

Doc said the reason my eyes were matting shut and oozing gross stuff is because my sinus infection is probably draining into my eyes. The thought of that alone sent shivers down my spine and caused my gag reflex to act up. I would much rather just call it Pink Eye and be done with it. Afterall, my favorite color IS pink, heh.

So I got antibiotics to take, 3 days worth. It’s a 500MG Zithromax that is hopefully going to kick this Mother Of Sinus Infections out of my system. I was also given a TEENSY WEENSY $60 bottle of antibiotic eyedrops to put in my eyes but remember what I said about having a hubby that likes to research things excessively? Wait, did I not mention that? Ok well he is VERY anal retentive and will research something until his eyeballs fall out of his head to make sure we are either getting the best deal or the safest or the healthiest product ever, but he researched this drug and it appears to be a Class C drug. Which is sort of a no-no in the pregnancy world.

Wow that was a disgustingly long run-on sentence. Moving on now… So today was a much better day than yesterday though I still awoke with my eyes matted shut, just not nearly as awful as yesterday. I haven’t used the eyedrops yet and I plan to wait another day or so before I give in and use them. My eyes are still both a little pink and feel tired/stingy throughout the day.

Someday this sinus infection will be GONE! GONE! GONE!!

The good news is that my Sister-in-law had her baby on November 9th, a beautiful healthy 7lb 10oz baby boy, Gavin Andrew Tristan (yes, two middle names!). I’m so happy for them. They live far away in Colorado but we are planning a trip up there in a few weeks to visit them and see the baby. Oh my gosh, I’m gonna get to hold a baby in a few weeks. Yaaaaaaay!!

Pink Eye or… ?

I PROMISE I will resume real blogging tomorrow.

Last night it felt as if an eyelash was in my eye. I itched and rubbed it a bit. Rinsed my eye and put some eyedrops in. Eyedrops that I keep in my purse that normally cure ANY kind of eye allergy problems I have within’ MINUTES. Felt SO much better, went to bed.

Woke up this morning to my left eye completely matted shut with goop and crust. It was absolutely DISGUSTING. I had to wipe my eye down before I could even get the darn thing open. My eye has been bloodshot RED for the entire day and hasn’t gotten any better. I have NEVER had this happen before.

So tomorrow I’m going to see if its any better when I wake up in the mornings. I got some baby shampoo tonight (gonna need it eventually, anyway, hee hee) and I’m gonna dilute some with water and use a q-tip to wash around the outside of my eye (Gene found this tip online).

Wish me luck!! And I promise, photos and REAL blogging coming soon. This kind of crap WOULD happen right at the beginning of NaBloPoMo wouldn’t it? Darn the luck.
