The Update

I have been so unbelievably busy! I know that is always the excuse but I really haven’t sat down at my computer long enough to write up a post about what has been going on. The biggest thing is that on Friday my Aunt/Uncle and their kids came into town from Illinois for my Bridal Shower that was on Saturday. I had such a great time with them and I had to fight the tears on Sunday morning when it was time for them to say goodbye. I love them all so much!

Bridal shower was great. Surrounded by friends and family and felt so extremely grateful for everything.

I’m getting REALLY excited now about the wedding. It’s comin’ and comin’ fast! Only a little over 4 weeks left. Can you believe that? I sure as hell can’t! The great news is that THREE of my long-time (I’m talkin’ about 10+ years back) Internet friends are coming to the wedding! I am ecstatic to finally get to be with them and hang out and stuff. I just keep thinking this may be the start of some great “real life” friendships. I know they live far away, all of them, but I think once you make that FIRST move it can only lead to more “meetups” and stuff like that. Anyway, the point is that I am beyond thrilled that they want to be there with me on my special day. Means the world to me.

Work has been busy as usual. Life has been crazy. There are 4 day old dishes in my sink at home. There are boxes and gifts scattered all over my living room and kitchen floor. There are Thank You cards that need to be written. Just a lot of stuff that needs to get done! Yesterday was Malinda & Layla’s birthdays so we celebrated that and didn’t get home until after 11 PM. Tonight there is a band playing, Broadway Calls, in the city and we’re SO going! Their music gives me goosebumps. Love it.

So… Maybe tomorrow I can catch up on “life” things, like writing Thank You cards and doing dishes and cooking an actual meal and hey, I got a great idea, going to the GYM! Ugh. Need to lose weight :( I’m down 10 pounds but I need to lose another 5-10 in the next 4 weeks.. If I go to the gym and do what I need to do, I think I can achieve that.

Wedding Shoes

Wedding Shoes

So when I tried on my wedding dress and then had to stand there for what seemed like forever I was wearing (or “trying on”) some ballerina type slippers they were selling in the store for $25. Needless to say, we were in there for 2 1/2 to 3 hours and when we were leaving my feet were absolutely killing me. I gave the slippers back to the lady and told her I was going to keep shopping around even though in my head I knew what I was going to wear to walk down the isle: Crocs!

Now, all of you Croc Haters listen up, I am the kind of person who really does enjoy cute and adorable and sexy things. However, I am not the kind of person who is going to sacrifice comfort just to look cute, especially if I am going to have to be uncomfortable for longer than 30 minutes. I generally don’t like the look of crocs, so I agree with the Croc Haters in that they aren’t the most attractive shoe ever. So, I went online and bought these Pearl (or grey/silver) Mary Jane style Crocs. They’re adorable! I have a black pair that I wear ALL the time. They actually look really cute with capris or skirts. Anyway where was I?

Oh yeah.. So I bought some lacey/sparkley ribbon, some pink organza ribbon and some teeny tiny white cala lilies. I wrapped all of this stuff through the little holes on the crocs and over the top strap. I left the heel strap plain because I don’t really want itchy ribbon and wire irritating my heel/ankle all night. So here are my wedding shoes. The ones I’ll be walking down the isle in! And all of the women at the reception wearing their high heels are going to be envious of the comfort I will be.

Disappointed in you, March

The weather today was beautiful. March made a grand entrance by showing us clear, sunshiney skies and temperatures reaching the low 70s. And so I’m sitting here, feeling pretty confidant in Mother Nature and feeling my spirits slowly rise when out of nowhere Forecast Fox pops up a Severe Weather Alert. What?!?!? So I check it out and we are in some kind of wind advisory at the moment, which is going to bring in a cold front that will turn into severe storms tomorrow evening and best of all? (follow along with the sarcasm here) Monday the storms are said to turn into snow. Now, If I remember correctly I told everyone via a tweet to leave their stinkin’ snow out of Oklahoma. But apparently no one listens!

I’m going to try to get through the next couple of days without punching holes in the wall and crying. I’m going to keep going to the gym and eating right. I refuse to let this pull me down!

Anyway.. Good news is that I’ve been eating right over the last few days and as of this morning I had lost almost 7 pounds. Of course, we ate a buffet tonight with my parents but I think I did pretty decent in my food choices. I definitely ate too many calories and fat but I also had only eaten a small bowl of cereal and about 1/4 of a sandwich total earlier in the day. I know it’s a stupid excuse but it works for me ;)

Pinch Me?

I’m sitting here at my computer and the sun is shining brightly through the window and I hear an enormous amount of birds chirping. Could it be true?

Welcome March!!! I’ve missed you so. Please bring good weather and happiness to all. Try to forget about what your horrible brethren February did to us all. Time to move on.. to happier, sunnier, warmer days!
