Internet Shananagans

I wish I never went to hillaryismomjeans.com! I love it, don’t get me wrong. But! I can’t stop refreshing it and staring at it and laughing. My cheeks hurt and my stomach is achin’!

Here are the ones I added:

  • hillary gives cleveland steamers for free
  • hillary doesn’t recycle
  • hillary is the pink power ranger

And here are a few of my favorites:

  • hillary is the path to the dark side. hillary leads to anger. anger leads to hate. hate leads to suffering.
  • hillary put baby in the corner
  • hillary thinks your stormtrooper fansite sucks
  • hillary thinks o.j. is innocent
  • hillary is not the preferred nomenclature
  • hillary peed on your rug
  • hillary released buggy software
  • hillary started the writers’ strike
  • hillary broke your tv with a wiimote

My favorite season is Anything But Winter

I used to love Winter when I was younger. I loved snow days and I especially loved when the snow was so deep and sticky that you could build super awesome snowmen. I loved snow ball fights and best of all I loved making snow slushies with Pepsi. I still love to bundle up when it’s cold outside and ever since we bought a home with a fireplace, I especially love building those warm, crackling fires.

However, I am absolutely sick of it now. Every year for the last few years I’ve noticed that I’ve grown really tired of our 4-5 month Winters that we seem to be having. Usually when February hits, I am so done with the Stupid Season and I feel like pulling my hair out in anticipation of Spring and Summer. Just the thought of not having to remember to put a jacket on when going outside or wearing flip flops makes me SOO happy.

I see mid 60s in our 10 day forecast and I can only hope that the forecast is mostly accurate. Tonight is supposed to dip down into the 20s and back up to 50 tomorrow.. but after that mostly 60s. I can’t wait for 70s! I’m actually getting nervous.. You think the weather be nice for my outdoor wedding ceremony in April? I sure hope so!

Tank tops. Shorts. Ponytails. Sweat. Yardwork. The smell of freshly mowed lawns. The sound of weed eaters. Walks through the neighborhood. Flip Flops. Fresh breezes. Green Grass. Leaves on trees! Thunderstorms. Rainbows. Planting flowers. Car Washes. Wedding Ceremonies That Are Outdoors!Sigh.

Productivity is my friend

I got so much accomplished today when it comes to Wedding Nonsense! I love how much we got done and makes me feel so much better about this whole thing. Looks like we are going to get the invitations mailed out on Monday.. which was my original deadline. Here is what we did today:

  • Bought ribbon for to wrap around the chinese takeout boxes (wedding favors)
  • Bought stencils and stencil cutter for my “project” with the driving directions to the wedding site.
  • Designed, printed, and cut out the driving directions to go into the invitations.
  • Designed and printed the labels to go on the Hershey Nugget Chocolates that I’m going to have on the tables.
  • Finished the invitations!
  • Ordered Gene’s wedding band !!!!!
  • Got some CUTE light pink (”cotton candy”) crocs for the wedding.

All I need to do is print the envelopes and then get the invites put together. Tomorrow we’re going to my grandma’s house so that I can watch Grandma while Mom takes Grandpa to the emergency room. He’s really, really sick and their family physician passed away a few months ago. I’m going to take all the wedding stuff with us so we can assemble them tomorrow while we are there.

7 more weeks!

P.S. I love our new oven! Last night we baked a batch of Green Tea Muffins, No Pudge Fudge Brownies, Whole Wheat Banana Bread and today I made some garlic toast with the broiler and healthy alfredo on the stove top. OH YAH! We also baked up a family size Lean Cuisine Pizza in there with the “pizza” setting.. It was BOMB! I can’t believe how delicious it was!

TheKnot.com Update

Just wanted to update on the last entry I wrote about TheKnot.com. They finally (after 6 days?) replied to my e-mail, telling me that the reason my entire order was on back order was because of the wedding bubbles I ordered. So wait, let me get this right… You’re holding my entire order hostage because of one item that I ordered… out of about 20 that were ordered?? WHAT?? Are they seriously that cheap!?

Needless to say, I am never ordering a single thing from them again. For being a Wedding related website, you think they would be on top of things when it comes to customer service and getting their product out. I mean, don’t they figure that the bride or whoever it is that is ordering this stuff already has enough stress on their plate? Needless to say, I am pretty much done with that site. I never really used it to “plan” my wedding because the lady who is in charge of the place I’m having the ceremony and reception at is pretty much doing EVERYTHING. She’s doing the food, cake, decorations, flowers, etc. It’s SO much easier when you go this route, trust me!

I did go meet with her yesterday and I got to see a sneak peak at my bouquet. It already has 6 cala lilies on it and there are a good 2-3 more to be put on. And yes, I am using silk flowers in my entire wedding and ceremony. I’m really trying to keep this whole wedding as SIMPLE as possible. It has gotten a little out of hand at times but I think we’re keeping it pretty minimal so far. I’m gonna go meet with her in a few more weeks to give her some more stuff I have and make a payment and all of that nonsense.

Well, I gotta get to work. My new range is being delivered today between 10 AM and 2 PM!!! Yay, I am so excited. It just sucks that I have to go back to work afterwards. I’d much rather stay at home and stare at the beautiful new oven.

Winter, I hate you!

Go away already! I want some low 70s and sunshine for once.

Family & Friends Afar

I honestly have no idea how this is even possible but I ordered close to 20 items from The Knot’s website and when it had been over 4 days with no e-mail telling me my order was shipped.. I got to wondering. So I went to the website to check the order status and every single item I ordered is back ordered. How?? My biggest question is, why are ANY of these items on their website if they are all back ordered! That is a LOT of different items to be back ordered at one time. Really ticks me off! I e-mailed them a few days after the order and no response. So I e-mailed again tonight and I’m hoping to have a response sometime soon. So far, not a good experience at all.

On the same note, I wanted to express how happy I am that people from all around the country are coming to celebrate our special day with us. We’ve got people coming from California, Texas, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas and New York! Can you believe that?? I sure can’t. And because I am so excited and The Biggest Dork Ever, I am gonna write up a list of the peeps from each state.

Southern California: Gene’s Dad, Mom and Sister! We are so excited that they are making the long journey over here. We had a great time visiting them a couple of summers ago and I honestly really missed being there. I loved talking to his Dad in the car and just being with them in general. Gene’s little sister is going to be one of my bridesmaids and I feel so honored she would do that for me! I also heard word that one of Gene’s uncles that lives near his Dad may be coming with them. I’m not really for sure on this yet but we’ll see.

Northern California: Christi!! My long-time Internet Friend, soon to be Real Life Friend ;) Has anyone else met someone they have known on the Internet?? I am SO excited. I can’t describe the excitement. This girl has been there through thick and thin. And even though we’re growing up so quickly and have very busy lives, we still have that connection that is indescribable. I am SO excited to finally get to meet her and hug her. We’ve known each other since we were in our early to mid teens. And I can’t even TELL you how much it moves me that she has spent a boatload of cash on a plane ticket to come spend this special day with us.

New York: While we are on the subject of Internet Friends becoming Real Life Friends.. John, a guy that I’ve been friends with as long as I’ve known Christi is coming and again I can’t even describe how ecstatic I am and how much it means to me that he wants to share this day with us. You can’t find better friends than this! And I know he is so excited to finally get to meet Christi too! We were all friends in an IRC chatroom back in the day ;) Nerds Unite!

Colorado: Gene’s Brother and Sister-in-law! We get to see them about once a year or so when they come for Thanksgiving but we are really excited that they are able to make an extra trip over here to spend the day with us. Gene’s brother is his best man and we feel honored that he is doing that for us.

Texas: Gene has family in Texas and we aren’t FOR SURE who all is going to make it but we know his Grandpa and one of his Aunts will be coming. Either way, I am REALLY excited because I’ve never met these particular relatives of his and I admit, I’m a little nervous :)

Kansas: My aunt and uncle and cousins from my Dad’s side are coming from Kansas and I am so excited to finally get to see them. We hardly ever see them anymore, ever since they moved to The Land of Toto. My Uncle Bob is to date, my absolute favorite uncle EVER. No offense to all of the other uncles.. but I just love him so much. So many great memories. He REALLY knows how to make someone feel so loved and cared for. And yes, I have an Uncle Bob :P

Illinois: My aunt and uncle on my Mom’s side. I love them SO much! Their little girl (3 1/2) is my flower girl and little boy (1 1/2) is my ring bearer. I cannot wait to see them. Gene and I went to visit them in October and I have really been anticipating another road trip up to visit. I love them so much and I just love being with their family. Jocelyn and Caleb are so adorable and really are inspiration for me to have children some day. I miss them miserably :(

See.. That is a LOT of family and friends coming to visit from such distances. I really can’t even express how LOVED that makes me feel! I never thought people from out of state would come for MY wedding. But wow.. Overwhelmed and totally humbled.

Appliance Envy

The Oven mentioned previously is ours! We also got a stainless steel hood to match. I hope it fits. The oven (or range as they call it) is being delivered Friday. I’m hoping to be using it this weekend! We’ll see.

I also found the matching stainless steel refrigerator that I want. Yeah, it’s $2,000 but it sure is fine! And it would look OH SO SEXY sitting in the same room as its brethren. Someday… Someday!
