Homeowners, at last!

We’re homeowners! We’re almost all moved in. About 2 more loads of “crap” and we are so out of that house. I’ll spend a day cleaning it head to toe and then will gladly hand over the keys. I am so sick of that house and glad we have moved out. Something we actually own!

Having a few slight issues with the new house. Things that, of course, will get better over time. But the girl who rented this house before we bought it had 5 cats. FIVE. And I’m allergic to a single cat, so you can imagine how great it has been for me. I don’t show my typical allergy symptoms, I just… out of nowhere, have an asthma attack. I’ll be fine and then feel my lungs starting to close up and then it begins. Crazy stuff. My body will get used to it eventually, I’m sure.

Anyway, I’m gonna go take a shower and sleep. We gotta be at my mom’s house at 9:30 tomorrow morning to go out of town. I’d much rather stay and spend time in my house but we have family coming in from out of state that we never get to see and I really want to see them. So anyway.. thats the heads up on what is going on. I’ll write more when I actually have time. The next week will be spent finishing the move, cleaning the other house, unpacking and getting ready for a brand spankin’ new roof on Friday :D

The House Front

My Calendar is full for the rest of the month. Between closing on a house, moving and work I don’t think I can fit anything else in. Oh and we’re going out of town to my Grandmother’s house on the 27/28th for Memorial Day. I have to get up at the butt crack of dawn on Saturday to take Astro the vet to be boarded and then we must proceed to move stuff. We have to get all of our “big” stuff that needs to be moved with Malinda’s truck out of this house by the end of the day on Saturday. She is going out of town for over a week to her brother’s wedding during the first week of June.

We’ve gone back and forth over this home buying ordeal over the last several weeks and we are finally at our final decision. The home inspection was a bust and we found out that the house needed a new roof before any insurance company would insure it. Other than that, most repairs seem somewhat minor and we plan on fixing all of the things on that list over the next few years before we want to turn around and sell it.  Anyway so our closing date is the 24th, next Thursday at 4:00 PM. I’m taking off work at 2 so I can come home and do some breathing exercises. I’m a little nervous and I want everything to go smoothly. The first part of this week is going to drag by, I can already tell.

We have to get a contract with a roofer signed before closing in order for us to get our insurance policy. Tomorrow I plan on getting the last of the estimates and by the end of the day on Tuesday Gene and I need to have our decision made on who to go with so that I can get the contract signed and faxed over to the insurance company. I really hope everything goes smoothly at closing because most of the roofing contracts I’ve signed have a 10% cancellation fee and when you have an estimate for $4,300, 10% is actually QUITE a lot of money :(

Anyway I could really go on and on but I don’t feel like it. Other things on my checklist are change of address cards at the post office, transfer utilities and gas to new house, transfer cox (cable, phone, internet) to new house and call the Pest guy to come out and spray for pests. Maybe sometime later this month or in June I will go splurge on some paint and paint the house. I want to use mostly neutral colors. One of the bedrooms is already painted a warm orange/red color and it is awesome so I plan on leaving that room the way it is. On the Master Bedroom and the guest bedroom I want to paint neutral colors with some kind of technique. I haven’t decided yet!

I guess I am pretty excited about owning our own home. A home that we can say is OURS. Money is going to be RIDICULOUSLY tight for quite a while after we move. It sucks that it has to be that way but like most situations we are in, there have been some pretty big curveballs thrown our way. We will make it through. We have the basic staples to survive and I plan on doing some garage saling to find some unique/cheap art. Also hit up some flea markets and thrift stores.

Anyway.. I would appreciate it if you guys would keep your fingers crossed for us. And I should be back sometime after Memorial Day weekend. I am not sure when Cox will be able to transfer our services to the new place and when I will have time to actually sit down at the computer again but hopefully sometime after the 28th.

Friday’s Feast

Appetizer
Tell about a time when you had to be brave.
I don’t know if I’ve ever had to be “brave.” I can’t imagine that I’d ever consider myself brave, not even in a single instance. Nothing is coming to my mind at all right now.

Soup
Which upcoming movie are you excited about seeing?
I don’t pay attention to movies very much. However, there is one that is already out that I really, really want to see. It’s Hot Fuzz. Looks hilarious!

Salad
Name an item you try to always have on hand.
A food item? Something in my purse?? I need clarification! If it is a food item then I always, always try to have canned veggies on hand. If I get low, I stock up. They’re so yummy and so easy and so cheap! If we’re talking about purses, then an item I always make sure I have on hand is a pen. It should be something like a Kleenex due to my allergies but I can’t ever remember to keep those in my purse.

Main Course
Imagine the most relaxing room you can think of. Now describe it!
NO CLUTTER. End of story. Oh and incense. Now, end of story.

Dessert
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being highest), how spiritual or religious are you?
1? I don’t want to sound Atheist or anything. I just don’t really have many spiritual beliefs. I don’t like to get into religious debates either, so I wont even go into why and what.

Spam of The Month

You know the drill. It’s actually been a while. I have not been receiving much spam in my inbox (*knocks on wood*) and so I decided to check out my junk mail folder and voila, there it all is!

With CIALIS you don’t have to hurry if you don’t want to. You don’t have to schedule your lovemaking if you don’t want to. You and your partner can relax and take your time to choose the moment that’s right for both of you. bullfinch

bullfinch??? What the???

Mother Nature is pissed!

The storms just keep rolling in. I don’t even really know how many more we are going to get but we are forecasted through Saturday for stormy weather. At my job I communicate with people in New York on a regular basis and the other day one of the ladies was e-mailing me about our weather. She said she could never imagine living in this part of the country and that going through this kind of weather has to be terrifying. But I almost think the exact same of their 100 inches of snow and blizzards. You adapt.

Twitter

I love this darn thing! I just signed up for it today and I can already tell I am going to become quickly addicted to it. And of course, I googled it to find out if some genius out there has created a Wordpress plug-in for it and Voila! So, what are you waiting for?? Go sign up and be sure to add me to your twitter friends. You can find me here :)

A quick rundown of things

  • At today’s weigh in at work, I have lost 5.5 pounds since last Monday. Yay for weight loss!
  • My appetite is about GONE and when I eat or drink too much, I feel sick afterwards. Therefore I am not over indulging like I used to.
  • Wednesday evening the pest control guy is going to inspect the house for me! For free!
  • Thursday morning we are meeting a guy at the house for a full home inspection. This includes plumbing, electrical, heat, air, foundation, etc. Cross your fingers for a good report :)
  • Still have to decide on an insurance provider and then give that information to the bank.
  • May is going to turn out to be a very stressful month!
  • I am tired and I need to get in bed. I have a pretty important meeting at 8:30 AM, therefore I need to drag my butt into work a little earlier than usual.
  • Goodnight !

Canfield’s Diet Cherry Chocolate Fudge = Heaven

Diet Cherry Chocolate Fudge SodaThis stuff is absolute heaven! Gene and I went shopping this evening to get a few things we needed and I ran across this stuff in the soda aisle. At first I thought, that sounds nasty. Then the more I looked at it and the more I thought about it, it actually started to look and sound pretty tasty. I had to ponder the purchase for a little while because I have never paid $2.69 for a 6 pack of soda in my entire life. I usually wont pay more than $2.50 for a 12 pack.  Gene and I opened one this evening and shared it and boy was it delish. It tastes like a mix between Cherry Chocolate Chip ice cream and those Queen Anne chocolate covered cherries that are around during the holiday season. I can’t wait to go buy some light vanilla ice cream to make a float with one of these bad boys.. Talk about yummy :D

Other than that, there isn’t anything really exciting going on around here. I’ve been re-doing my diet. Trying to stick with it this time. Been doing pretty well and I’m hoping that I’ll see some loss tomorrow when I weigh in at work. I also packed a couple of boxes this evening, which always makes me feel better. There is still a ginormous mess around the house but at least things are getting packed into boxes.

I want to move now!!! I am so darn impatient.
