I like live music

This week has been more active than usual. On Wednesday night, we (Candace, Layla, and I) went to the Conservatory to see Brandtson. It was pretty disappointing for a couple of reasons. First, the band only played about five songs due to some technical difficulties. Second, all the songs were from the new album except for one from Send Us a Signal. I’ve grown to appreciate the new album more, but for me it’ll never match their previous ones.

Tonight, we went to see the Flaming Lips. Despite the fact that I really dislike how impersonal large arenas are, they put on a really good show. It was like a huge party going on the whole time. They played most of the songs I wanted to hear (though I still really wanted to hear Fight Test). The theatrics, confetti, and balloons were all very cool and really didn’t feel contrived. There were moments I won’t forget that remind me how powerful music really is.

Life has been relatively “busy” recently. I wish I had more time to enjoy it all. It goes by so fast, and I guess I’m lucky that I have people to share it with.

Still hating my website, just not as bad

I got the layout fixed last night before I went to bed but I am still extremely upset with it. It doesn’t look near as cute as it did in Photoshop when I pieced the whole thing together :( Looks like I am gonna have to tweak with it again. But that will have to be sometime later!

I am about to go soak in the tub for a little while and then crawl into bed with a movie and my new Princess Bride journal :) Or maybe some stationery. Have a couple of letters I’d like to write people! I’ve slacked off on this and I need to get back into it. Anyway, time to go  I looooove baths!

I hate my website

I give up on trying to make this damn layout work. It has really made me sooo angry and I can’t figure out how to fix it. If anyone has an ideas, I’d appreciate it. I can’t believe I let it upset me this badly! I hate going to bed without having things like this resolved. It’s rediculous :(

P.S. It does work in IE but I don’t touch IE… Whyyyy meee :(

Shopaholic’s Not-So-Anonymous

It’s all Brooke’s fault that I went into Yankee Candle tonight and went absolutely nutso in there! I only spent $30 and here is what I got:

- Electric tart burner (It’s a pale blue leafy type pattern) and 5 tarts (Clean Cotton, Country Linen, Lemon Lavender, Midsummer’s Night, and Sunwashed Linen). Gene joked that I got mostly scents that smell like laundry detergent. But hey, who doesn’t like the smell of clean laundry??? I absolutely LOVE it! The Midsummer’s Night smells a lot like a subtle men’s cologne and I absolutely LOVE a good smellin’ man ;)

I also went into Hot Topic and raided their clearance, here is what I got for $10:

- 3 sheets of Nacho Libre magnets (one for me, one for Malinda and one for Della)
- Princess Bride journal
- Stewie (from Family Guy) pen
- Nacho Libre lanyard :D

And I don’t know if I mentioned this yet but I am addicted to shopping. It’s horrible! Hah. I really am in love with good smelling stuff and clothing. I want to be cute, it makes me feel better if I can find cute new clothing. It’s crazy. And I also don’t know if I mentioned this yet but the shampoo and conditioner at Bath & Body Works is AWESOME. It smells sooo wonderful and it makes your hair smell absolutely deeeeee-vine! I got the Cherry Blossom scent and I just love how my hair smells, even a day after washing! Definitely worth a try. And they usually have a 2 for $10 sale going on every other weekend or so.

That is all for tonight, I think. Gonna sip on my Lipton Diet Green Tea w/Citrus :) One of the best teas I’ve had in a while!

Cold, Dark and Crazy

I can’t really think of anything to write or worth writing. I read about 4 different blogs/journals tonight that involved someone dying. The sadness is rediculous. Here are some lyrics to one of my all-time favorite songs.

Straightjacket Weather – Cadillac Blindside

i thought you would be
insane at twenty-three
now, i’m that weirdo screaming on the train

you’re setting fires inside my head
i’d like to believe you
it’s not arson
maybe just a warm goodbye for me
it’s cold inside my heart
cold, dark, and crazy
sweater weather for you
and a straightjacket for me

head down, hands tied
dreaming only of you
who can rescue me from this padded room
if i got my mouth on some cyanide
or a shotgun
maybe i’d survive

head down, hands tied
dreaming only of you
who can rescue me from this padded room
and our get-away car is parked outside
i’ll ride shotgun, baby, you can drive.

Lite Chicken Cordon Bleu

So tonight I had my mom and sister over (dad never comes, party pooper!) for dinner :) I made Chicken Cordon Bleu (I’ll put the recipe at the bottom of the entry) with butter noodles and peas & carrots. It was pretty good, if I say so myself!

I went to Target and spend $22 on about 20 pairs of socks. I can’t believe it.. I know, I am crazy. I recently became addicted to CUTE socks and I want a million pairs rightnow! Target had a humongous sale on socks and they had tons of cute colors/designs for only 98 cents per pair! I love Target clearance.. it is the best :D

Tomorrow we are taking the dogs to the dog park at around 10 AM so that we can be home by lunch. After lunch we are going to the Cowboy Hall of Fame. My boss gave us free tickets so I think Gene, Layla and I are going to meet Malinda and Della there. It’s something to do.. and it’s free! Can’t beat that :D

Lite Chicken Cordon Bleu

4 (or however many you want) Chicken Breasts
Shredded part-skim mozarella cheese
Lunch meat medium sliced ham
Butter (I use Smart Balance)
Salt / Pepper / Garlic Powder / Onion Powder

Put the chicken breast between some saran wrap and pound it with a meat mallet (the flat side) until it is pretty thin. I’m thinking 1/4 to 1/2″ thickness. I seasoned both sides with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Put a slice of ham on it and top that with some mozarella. Roll it up tight and store it in the fridge with saran wrap around it rolled up. Do that for however many people are going to be eating.

Then melt butter (A decent amount, I’m thinking 1/4 C.) with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder in a skillet type pan. Once that is boiling, put the chicken breasts in the skillet and let them cook on low to medium heat for about 20-30 minutes. Rotate the breasts about 2-3 times to make sure it cooks evenly on all sides.

Pretty yummy and low on fat and calories! You can always use swiss cheese and bread crumbs to bread it… but it will add to the fat and calories!

Movie Review: Click

First I will start off with a movie review of Click. It wasn’t as good as I had expected it to be but it wasn’t exactly awful either. The message the moving was conveying was great and the overall theme was awesome. But like any life changing experience, the way it is drawn out is really, really sad. When I left the theatre, I was actually temporarily in an extremely bad mood. I felt really depressed and didn’t feel like talking to anyone or dealing with anything. I actually felt better after I told Gene about how I felt about it. I hate movies that leave me feeling like that! Maybe I just take them too seriously?? Probably why I can’t watch scary films.

Moving on.. today the gang (Gene, Layla and I) went shopping. Went to a lot of places. Shoe Carnival, Old Navy, Ross, Walmart, the mall (an additional 3 trillion stores). Had a good time. I got 3 Nacho Libre t-shirts from Hot Topic for around $5 each. The total was $16 and some change after tax. Is that awesome or what?? That brings my running total to 4 Nacho Libre t-shirts! And I still need to get around to pre-ordering the DVD online. Amazon shows the release date as October 29th. That is just too far away :(

Tomorrow I get my first allergy shot! I am nervous and excited all at once. I’m nervous because I hope I don’t have an anaphylactic reaction. Which really is the only thing that makes me nervous about it. I’m not crazy about needles but I am not one to freak out over them. I am excited because I am looking a year down the line and see myself feeling a LOT better as far as allergies and asthma go. Two things that have definitely held me back in my life so far.

Anyway, I gotta go! Family Guy is coming on in 15 minutes (Yes, I freakin’ love Family Guy, shutup). It’s the one thing I try to watch every weekday night.
