Muscle aches and strep throat

The storms last night were not near as bad as everyone tried to make them out to be. Living in Oklahoma you become used to the over-dramatization by the local weather crews. But every year right before spring really kicks into full gear, there are a few thunderstorms that you have to go through to get back into the swing of things and used to this high-end drama. So this last week has been exactly that.

I think it was Thursday that the local news channels aired non-stop coverage of the thunderstorms for several hours. There were many a soap opera missed that afternoon. And guess what?? It didn’t even sprinkle where I live! Nope. All of the storms were south and north of me. So I was really annoyed with this. I can totally understand how high powered winds and tornadoes are extremely threatening… but heavy downpours of rain and thunder?!?!?! I don’t see t he harm in that  Actually, I was glad we got the heavy downpours because our state is currently in a “drought” situation. Everything is dried up and shriveled up. Grass is yellow, not green. It’s quite disgusting. Rain… Where art thou?!?!?!

So last night we had another storm and they were making it sound really, really scary on the local news stations. So I shut down the computer, closed all of the windows on the west side of our home (Winds were blowing seventy miles per hour, easterly!) and we got all bundled in bed to ride out the storm. The most we got was heavy rain for about 30 minutes or so, sporadic lightning and random loud thunders. I think we may have had some 40mph wind gusts at times… But 70 mph?? I don’t think so buddy :blank: Just goes to show how crazy these weathermen get during storms.

Anyway.. on a happier note, yesterday Gene and I got to go on our first picnic of the year. I hope it is the first of many to come :) I love picnics and I am rediscovering this after many years of not having been on one. My family used to go on picnics at the park all of the time, cooking out and playing on the playground. Feeding the ducks in the pond and walking the trails. Always, always fun times. So Gene and I took the doggies on the picnic and walked the trails. It was a beautiful day out and I got a tiny, tiny sunburn. Despite the strep throat, it was awesome  I also washed our patio furniture and moved it to the front patio and washed both of our cars on the outsides. Like I said, it was a gorgeous day out!

My thigh muscles are still aching sore from Friday when I ripped out all of the nasty vines on our front patio. I mean, I totally ripped every single one of them out (And there was a good 10-15 feet of them) and I didn’t even feel like I was working any muscles at the time but the Saturday I was in tons of pain, could barely walk. And if I sat down for any period of time, it was always ten times harder to get back up. And today?? Worse. I am in even more pain today. And having a sit down job is a good thing and a bad thing when you are in this kind of pain. The muscles get so stiff from sitting so long so when I do have to get up or move, it about kills me! I really think I’m going to skip tonight’s walk and try to rest my muscles. This is really rediculous pain!

So right now my life is strep throat and horrifying muscle pain. Hopefully it’ll get better eventually :) Oh and I’m starting my 8 day work week right now! Going to be a lean cuisine binge, lol. I hope I can lose a couple pounds this week. Going to walk every night (except tonight) and eat Lean Cuisines for at least one meal per day. Wish me luck!
