Somewhat of an update

I want to post and say some great, exciting new things are going on but there really isn’t a whole lot to say. Just a few minor things and to save me the time I will post them in a list-type format…

- A new computer is coming my way in a week or two! Yippee :) I’ve had my computer for many years and I am going to pass it on to my mother (800 mhz processor, if I remember correctly). The new one coming my way is a Dell and it is 3.0 ghz. Yay :) I am so excited! Although the real excitement has not hit yet.. It will when the UPS guy shows up.

- Gene won the Outstanding Senior of the Year award at UCO (University of Central OK) for the Computer Science department. I am so proud of my baby :) We went to the Banquet on Friday and it was very lovely. I got pictures but they are horrible and blurry. He got a very nice wooden frame with the award in it and also a plaque with the award information engraved.

- Still eating better! I haven’t been doing as great as I like because I have had days off and my eating habits tend to go straight downhill during those days. I definitely don’t eat as much food as I ever used to but I try my best to keep my snacking scheduled and regular that way my metabolism can keep up.. However, I am usually a 2-meal type of gal on my days off of work. Bad, bad! I know :o I’m trying though, so that is what counts ;)

Well, that is about all I can think of right now. I am really, really tired and think I will try my best to get in bed early tonight. Hoping the extra sleep will do me some good for tomorrow. Working 8-5 M-F this week and it is going to be so strange! Definitely not used to such short shifts and definitely not used to working 5 days a week. Going to be a big change and I think it will take a little while to get used to.

The One Where I Babble

I’m really getting sick of working weekends. I’ve had to work the last few and I guess it is starting to wear on me. I hate to be a complainer but sometimes that is just what I do best  Hmph. So I guess the main reason I hate working weekends right now is because Gene is off on weekends and the weather is so lovely out lately that I want to be at home working in the yard or playing basketball or something fun outdoors like that!

Other than that, nothing much new going on. Next week is my last week to work full 12 hour shifts. I will still be working some 12 hour shifts here and there for a month or two but mostly will be working 8-5 and only on weekdays! I am totally excited for that :) Now I can be off on weekends with my baby.

My “diet” is going ok. Nothing new to report on other than I found out I had lost another 10 pounds last week.. So that was pretty good, about 10 pounds in one month. I’d say that is a good rate to lose weight at and I hope I can keep up the 10 pound thing for the next few months. Really gotta buckle down and start eating more vegetables and fruits, even if it has to be canned!

Emma and Astro are doing great. Astro is going through his terrible two phase and is eating every flip flop in the house! He will be staying at the vet while we are out of town for about 9 to 10 days. I feel bad for him, I know he is going to be sad being away from his sister for so long :( Buttt.. I am having then neutur him on Monday so when we come back on Tuesday he will be mostly healed up and good to go. Did I mention how expensive that was going to be?? I am saving as much as I can just to pay for him! Phew. What was I thinking getting a dog that big?? Everything he needs is on the upper end of the price range, lol. It is going to be about $270 for the boarding/neutur. I love him so much though so I don’t even think twice about it  Emma? She’s great. The usual with her, really. She is a great dog and so obedient and smart. She amazes me with her genius every single day!

One day last week Astro was in trouble and went into his crate to hide. I closed the crate door but didn’t lock it.. but he is a big wuss and too scared to open it himself to get out. He thinks if the door is shut it is locked up. So anyway, I was laying in bed and I told Emma to go open bubba’s crate (Literally, I said “Emma, go open bubba’s crate”) and she ran into their room, opened his crate door w/her paw and let him out. Now is that smart or what?? Yes, I love my baby girl.

I better shut up before this entry makes it into the Guiness book of world records under Longest Post Ever by Candace.

P.S. I am getting *so* excited about our trip to California. We are definitely going to Disneyland and the San Diego Zoo. We want to try to catch Universal Studios and am going to spend some much needed r&r time on the beach. Sunsets on the beach  I want to be there right now!!

Happy Belated Birthday to Me

I just can’t seem to find the motivation to clean anything inside of my house. Everything I want to do involves the back or front yard or outside of my house. There are tons of bushes I want to chop down, flowers I want to buy and plant, grass that I want to water, etc. If I could spend every single day outside working in my yard I would. If I had all of the money in the world to buy things for my yard, I would. Blah blah :)

So ever since I’ve lost some weight I have tons more energy to do things. Physical things. Like walking or working in the yard. Things I couldn’t even bring myself to do before. I used to sleep a lot more than I do nowadays, as well. I feel better as a whole, which is totally awesome :)

I had a great Birthday yesterday. I made a veggie tray, a meat & cheese tray and we got rolls to make mini sandwiches. I made a reduced-fat graham cracker crust (with reduced fat grahams, splenda, and smart balance light butter) and filled it with 2 packages of sugar-free fat-free cheesecake pudding. It was the best birthday pie ever :D And it was healthy! I got lots of great things for my birthday… I’ll include the list of my loot in the extended entry.

Meatloaf: The All Natural Cure

Just three days before my 24th birthday and I’m cleaning my butt off. Not literally, people. I’ve kept myself pretty darn busy almost all day today. Actually, I think I’ve been sweating 70% of the day. Which I’m not complaining, I love to be at home and working on making things look nice, like the yard. And now I will introduce to you my new favorite cleaning product:

The Pledge Duster Plus. This little thing is pretty inexpensive and it does an ok job for quick dustings. I think it is a pretty good little tool to use for inbetween your major cleaning / dusting. It’ll help keep the dust limited during the week when you are ready for your big cleaning. It definitely is not good for big cleaning, as the little pad it uses does not hold that much dust. And if you attract dust at the rate Gene and I do, you definitely understand what I’m talkin’ about here :D So go buy it, it’s fun! Plus, its retaliation against that darn Swiffer Duster that is so popular these days. Ugh, I hate that lady who dances around with it

Astro was bad today. He ate another flip flop. I guess he is going through this puppy chewing phase, finally, at 10 months old! Sheesh. My poor girl Emma just stands there looking so sad whenever he gets in trouble. He better be glad that I was uber happy today due to one of my birthday gifts arriving early (more on that later) so he didn’t get in as much trouble as he normally would have, lol.

And about the birthday gift, yes I got one early! My mom brought it over because it was “so big” and she couldn’t wrap it. She apparently needed room in the car to pick up my sister’s friend from school so she had to give it to me early. Which is totally fine by me, I love gifts ;) And guess what it was?? A basketball goal! Heck yeah! I am going to be an all-star now… just you watch. I am so excited and I wish my dad and Gene could get off work early to come over and help me put it together, lol. I’m such a brat, I know :) But I wanna shoot some hoops!

Would you believe that I’ve done so much housework today that I have blisters on my hands?? It’s true. Only one, but it hurts so bad. Thank goodness tonight is Meatloaf night over at my mom’s house ;) I mean… her meatloaf can make any pain go away. Seriously.

Happy Twenty-Third to my babycakes!

I think Gene had a good birthday :) As you can tell, his surprise birthday theme was Ninja Turtles! I picked up the stuff on Monday after I got off work and my ever-wonderful sister Layla decorated my mom’s kitchen for me. And my even-wonderfuler mother made the cheesecake recipe on the back of the Splenda package. I love Splenda and was a little disappointed in the recipe.. But oh well!

So a good birthday down and I finally got some rest last night and I am feeling about 80% better :) I was getting extremely close to a mental break down there the last couple of days but I am feeling soo much better. I guess I really just needed the rest. Still doing my food log and still trying my best to resist temptation as much as possible. I really want to lose more weight before our trip this summer! But anyway I really need to get back to work. Just wanted to do a quick update because I know I don’t have time to update this thing from home lately.

Still sick and getting no sleep whatsoever

A quick entry before I head off to shower and then bed. Once again, I am not getting in bed before 11 PM. Hell, I haven’t actually laid down and began to feel “rested” until at least 11:30 every night this week so far. And I know that isn’t *that* late but I am on an 8 day stretch here people and 11:30 aint cuttin’ it. Actually had someone comment on my baggy eyes today :( What can I say? I’m exhausted and still sick! Blegh.

Gene and I did our grocery shopping for the 2 weeks tonight. I wish our food intake was consistent, but it isn’t. Which is exactly why we end up making a million little trips to the store every week to get things we are running out of. Like this week, I feel like I have an attachment to cereal.. so we will most definitely run out of milk because I only bought 1 gallon. Now, if I had bought 2 gallons we would have wasted 1 of them. That is just how things seem to work around here :blank:

Not much else going on in this neck of the woods. I’m getting really excited for spring and summer weather. Really wanting to get into the outdoors stuff. I would totally love to get a basketball goal for our driveway. I’m dying to play me some basketball! Besides, it is totally some good exercise. I found one on Amazon.com for $199 so it gives me hope. I wonder if we could find one for 150, or so? And I don’t wanna buy one online.. I was just looking to see what kind of price range these things come in.

Well I really need to get into the shower. I updated my new food log and am ashamed of what I ate today. Must get some sleep. Tomorrow is a new day. And tomorrow is Gene’s birthday! My baby is going to be 23. Happy Birthday Genie!!!! I love you so much.

Muscle aches and strep throat

The storms last night were not near as bad as everyone tried to make them out to be. Living in Oklahoma you become used to the over-dramatization by the local weather crews. But every year right before spring really kicks into full gear, there are a few thunderstorms that you have to go through to get back into the swing of things and used to this high-end drama. So this last week has been exactly that.

I think it was Thursday that the local news channels aired non-stop coverage of the thunderstorms for several hours. There were many a soap opera missed that afternoon. And guess what?? It didn’t even sprinkle where I live! Nope. All of the storms were south and north of me. So I was really annoyed with this. I can totally understand how high powered winds and tornadoes are extremely threatening… but heavy downpours of rain and thunder?!?!?! I don’t see t he harm in that  Actually, I was glad we got the heavy downpours because our state is currently in a “drought” situation. Everything is dried up and shriveled up. Grass is yellow, not green. It’s quite disgusting. Rain… Where art thou?!?!?!

So last night we had another storm and they were making it sound really, really scary on the local news stations. So I shut down the computer, closed all of the windows on the west side of our home (Winds were blowing seventy miles per hour, easterly!) and we got all bundled in bed to ride out the storm. The most we got was heavy rain for about 30 minutes or so, sporadic lightning and random loud thunders. I think we may have had some 40mph wind gusts at times… But 70 mph?? I don’t think so buddy :blank: Just goes to show how crazy these weathermen get during storms.

Anyway.. on a happier note, yesterday Gene and I got to go on our first picnic of the year. I hope it is the first of many to come :) I love picnics and I am rediscovering this after many years of not having been on one. My family used to go on picnics at the park all of the time, cooking out and playing on the playground. Feeding the ducks in the pond and walking the trails. Always, always fun times. So Gene and I took the doggies on the picnic and walked the trails. It was a beautiful day out and I got a tiny, tiny sunburn. Despite the strep throat, it was awesome  I also washed our patio furniture and moved it to the front patio and washed both of our cars on the outsides. Like I said, it was a gorgeous day out!

My thigh muscles are still aching sore from Friday when I ripped out all of the nasty vines on our front patio. I mean, I totally ripped every single one of them out (And there was a good 10-15 feet of them) and I didn’t even feel like I was working any muscles at the time but the Saturday I was in tons of pain, could barely walk. And if I sat down for any period of time, it was always ten times harder to get back up. And today?? Worse. I am in even more pain today. And having a sit down job is a good thing and a bad thing when you are in this kind of pain. The muscles get so stiff from sitting so long so when I do have to get up or move, it about kills me! I really think I’m going to skip tonight’s walk and try to rest my muscles. This is really rediculous pain!

So right now my life is strep throat and horrifying muscle pain. Hopefully it’ll get better eventually :) Oh and I’m starting my 8 day work week right now! Going to be a lean cuisine binge, lol. I hope I can lose a couple pounds this week. Going to walk every night (except tonight) and eat Lean Cuisines for at least one meal per day. Wish me luck!
