Today is my mom’s birthday and so I celebrated by making a cake for her. It was going to be the best cake in the world :) I found the recipe online at All Recipes and it was called Maraschino Nut Cake. It was basically a homemade white cake recipe with maraschino cherries and pecans chopped up in it. Yum yum, right? Wrong :(

I made the cake and it took almost an hour to prepare the ingredients and then get the darn thing together. I didn’t have anything that said “cake flour” but I had a huge bag of all purpose flour so I totally figured it must be the same thing. I mean, flour is flour, right??? :blank: It said to pour the cake batter into the pans but my batter wasn’t exactly “pouring” LOL It looked like cookie batter, to be honest. And I bet if I had used cookie ingredients like brown sugar, they would have been excellent cookies! Needless to say, the “cake” did not turn out right at all and I had to toss it in the garbage.

I found a white cake mix in my pantry so I concocted cupcakes (as pictured above) with similar ingredients. Complete with homemade icing! I have no idea how these are going to taste or if they will even be edible but they sure are cute, aren’t they?? :D

Just a boring Saturday at work. Actually, it hasn’t been as painful as previous ones I’ve experienced. Been keeping myself busy with [real] work and it’s been kind of nice :) Right now, You’ve Got Mail is on TBS and I absolutely love this movie. Not to mention how adorable Meg Ryan is. She is just a doll :crush:

I’m actually off work Monday through Saturday next week. Really, really looking forward to it. My grand plan is to dive in head first into the spring cleaning. I’ve never actually done spring cleaning. The best time for me to actually get rid of things I don’t need or want anymore is when we are in the middle of moving. Because who really wants to move more stuff than they really have to?? Not me :P So I usually just get rid of stuff then. But right now I am extremely happy in the house we are living in and I want to stay here for quite a while, so I need to get a move on the cleaning of it and stuff. I’d really, really like to paint but I’m scared to start such a huge project :blank: I’m a wuss, really.

I don’t really have anything overly exciting to post about. I do have one predicament I am currently in… To vacation or not to vacation, that is the question! See, my sister’s softball team is going to Colorado sometime in May and I would really like to go. But on the same thought, Gene and I are really wanting to take a little vacation to California this summer to visit his parents and do some stuff over there. But I don’t think Gene has enough time off to do both? I’m really leaning towards the California trip instead of the Colorado one. I think we would have a lot more fun if we go to California. We’re already looking into plain tickets and pricing and stuff.

Anyway I guess I should get back to work. I really need to get to working some more on this project I’m currently on. I hope you all have an excellent weekend. If the weather permits, we are going to meet a friend out at the dog park tomorrow afternoon. My doggies could definitely use the exercise right now ;)

I think I got my exercise today just by cleaning the house. I haven’t done any major cleaning with chemicals or anything but I’ve been doing a little pre-spring cleaning. Trying to get rid of things I don’t need and taking trash out. The dust in this house is horrific and I’m having some major allergy and asthma problems :( I am off work Monday through Saturday next week so I figured I could do some major cleaning during that week sometime. But right now I’m just trying to get a head start. We have too much crap :P

I’ve got a load of laundry in the washing machine and dryer right now. I don’t want to touch Gene’s side of the computer room because I’m afraid I’d get rid of something that he wanted to keep but I think I’m going to have to get on his butt to get his side straightened up. It’s horrible! I mean, my side is pretty messy but his is just down-right disgusting :) Gonna have to light a fire under his butt!

Anyway I am still working on this domain as I go. I still hate the way I have it set up and I want something new and different. I always do this.. I’ve already made 3 different header images today and this is the one I finally settled on. But don’t get me wrong, I am in no way happy with it and I hate it!

Today has got to be the longest day in the history of long days. It has dragged on and on and it seems as if it will never, ever end :( Sundays are getting like this. I really can’t wait until I no longer have to work weekends! I’d love to be back on my schedule where I was working 3 days a week again, lol. Right now I have almost enough PTO hours to take off 2 whole weeks. Which I would love to do right now but it aint gonna happen.

My parent’s bought us a lawn mower today!! I am sooo excited. I guess when you get older things like lawn mowers can really get you excited? Yep. We can now mow the yard whenever we feel like it and I don’t feel like I have to bother my parents anymore. I mean, I know they were never “bothered” but I hated having to borrow their car so that I could get their mower to my house and stuff :| But yay! :) I really, really want to work on our “garden” areas in front of the house this year. I hope, hope, hope that I can find the time to get some stuff done out there!

Thanks to Gene for helping me fix the archive pages on here. It was one tiny little CSS thing that fixed it and I could kick myself for not figuring it out. Just goes to show that I don’t know very much, afterall. Astro is doing a lot better as far as his “gimpy” leg goes. He doesn’t seem to be limping hardly at all anymore. Going to continue supplementing NZymes into his diet until he is fully grown.

That is about all for today. I have more to write about but just not the motivation or concentration to get it done today.

The new layout is done! I’ve been wanting a 3 column layout for a while now and I just finally got around to messing with it. I can’t believe it was such a pain in the butt! The individual entry pages and comment pages are still all jacked up looking and I apologize for that :| But don’t expect it to be fixed anytime soon. I’m much too lazy for that!

Tomorrow (or technically, today) is St. Patty’s Day! So happy St. Patty’s Day to all you irish folks out there. Gene and I are celebrating by going downtown with the Mysterious Red M and the Crazy D to drink some green beer and watch some bands play :) I am excited to get out and have some fun! Beer is definitely not on my diet but I am going to try to be as good as I can be. Oh and tomorrow evening Gene, Layla and I are going to eat happy hour sushi :) Yumyum. I love sushi!

So apparently my “regular” updates did not last very long. Sorry about that :P I totally meant to keep up with this thing but life just sort of… happens and it is sometimes hard to find the time to actually post stuff. But I’m trying…. I’m trying… and that is all that should matter, right? Yes… So anyway, I think I need to see a doctor about my blogging disorder.. I’m diagnosing it as Binge Posting.

I’ve been busy. March 11th was my sister’s birthday and Mysterious Red M’s birthday (Have you ever noticed that I sometimes call her that and sometimes I refer to her by her real name, Malinda?? How lame am I? Don’t answer that…) so we went bowling, ate dinner at Red Lobster and then Gene and Mysterious Red M and I went to an Indian Casino where we all lost a little bit of money. I lost the least, 4 cents ;) Wuss much? Yes.

Other than that I have been battling a two-day long headache. And it really stinks! It is right behind my eyeballs and I just want to rip my head off at times. Mom diagnosed it as sinuses so Gene took me to Walmart a little bit ago to grab some Sudafed Sinus Headache. We’ll see how that works. Oh and the landlord had to come fix the garage door this evening. Like I said, busy.

Gene and I are still taking our evening walks. I love it. It is the absolute best time for us to relax and unwind. Yes we get our heartrates up (or at least I do) and yes it is exercise but its relaxing at the same time! Sometimes we talk up a storm and sometimes we quietly walk. It just depends on our moods. It is the best time for us to just be together in the cool evening air. I’m just not looking forward to it when the night temperatures are in the 80s! Now that is going to suckypoo ;) Will probably burn more calories though because I’ll tend to sweat my butt off.

I’m going to quit rambling in just a second. One more update is that Astro has a gimpy leg. His back left leg is sort of hurting him, I think. When he stands he tends to hold it up into the air and not put as much weight on it. Yet, he still runs around the yard like a madman on it and still tends to walk on it and stuff. He’s obviously not in THAT much pain! So anyway, I ordered some NZymes online and they will be here Friday. I will start supplementing them into his meals then and we will see how that helps. I’m really just hoping it is just PANO (Growing Pains)… Wish us luck! And good night :)

Just sitting here waiting for Gene to get home from work. When he gets home he is going to change clothes and then we are going to pick up my sister and we are going to see Cartel & The Starting Line. The doors are opening at 6 so we want to be there by then in case Cartel starts playing early cause I totally want to see them. There are like 4 bands playing so it is going to be a long show :P

I have had a hard time getting motivated today. I did get most of my sister’s gift done and I went over to my mom’s house and decorated her birthday cake, as well as a small one for Malinda since her birthday is on the same day. I haven’t decorated a cake in such a long time and I totally miss it. It’s fun but the clean up and messyness of it all just annoys the crap out of me :) I’m the kind of girl who doesn’t like to get dirty!

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Mine is going to be busy, busy. I need to try to get to the mall to return the earings I bought at Claire’s because they are all pieces of crap and I paid good money for them! We also plan to go bowling tomorrow during the day and I’m not really sure what else is planned for tomorrow.

Happy Birthday to Maggie (Gene’s little sister)! And Happy Birthday to my cousin Tara yesterday, and Happy Birthday to Layla (my sister) and Malinda tomorrow! Phew :) March is a busy birthday month, as well as April.
