Last night was definitely not a good night! It was actually the first night I’ve had with very little sleep due to Astro. The first couple of nights we had them were pretty sleepless due to crying. Now last night was a totally different, more disgusting story.
I gave Astro and Emma both a “Greenie” (little green toothbrush shaped bone to chew on) and they both seemed to really enjoy it. Well, at 2:30 AM I woke up to a sound that was quite familiar, the sound of a dog throwing up! I got up, turned the light on and sure enough Astro had thrown up all over inside the crate. Put him and Emma outside while I get their blankets in the wash and then let them back in to play until the blankets are done.
The blankets are almost done and I see Astro starting to gag on the couch, I rush him outside and he throws up again. Poor little guy!! I felt so badly for him. But he wasn’t acting sick, at all. No lethargy or any other signs of being ill. He would just throw up and then go back to playing like his old self. So I had to hang their blankets up in the house because our dryer still is not fixed (long story there), put some towels down in their crate (not as soft but that is all I had until the blankets dry!) and put them back in bed. Now it is about 3 AM.
But apparently that was not the last of the throwing up, because a little after 4 AM, I wake up AGAIN to puking sounds. Turn the bedside light on and he is gagging but nothing is coming out. He only does it once, then lays down and goes to sleep for the night. So this morning I’ve let them both outside and they seem to be doing fine out there. I’m really debating on whether or not to feed him as much as I have been, in case his stomache is still a little sensitive.
A lot of people are grossed out by dog puke but I’m not at all. I’ve totally be de-sensitized to it because of Emma. Emma has a very weak stomache (she is fine health-wise), so if she gets WAY too excited or is extremely active near the time she eats, sometimes she will throw up. She threw up a lot as a puppy. Unfortunately she was fine until we had her spayed and that is when the throwing up ordeal started. Anyway, that is a little info on how my night went. Luckily I got to sleep until 9:30. Which is definitely a blessing!
Mmmmm……..nice.
Our geriatric old dog coughs and gags the minute she moves around at night. Sounds like an old man from Salem Manor hawking away. *shudder*
