Keeping Katrina’s victims in my thoughts

A quick little post before I head to bed for the night. I didn’t get much sleep at all last night and on top of that, I tossed and turned the entire time! Not good. But my new “scrapbooking” project is coming along nicely. I had tons of fun playing with the paper and magazines last night and I hope someday in the next week I will have more time to really just play around with it all.

But the real reason I wanted to post is because I want to say that I am keeping every single person that is affected from this hurricane, from Mississippi up through Ohio in my thoughts! I know this is not easy and it is in fact a really horrible situation to be in :( I just hope people keep hope alive! And don’t worry about the looters! They will get theirs!

PetsMart just gained 3 brownie points

Just thought I would update on Astro’s crate situation. PetsMart.com finally had the crate in stock so I purchased it immediately (there is a 10% off coupon that is good through October 1st – Coupon Code: DISCTEN). Anyway, so I got the crate and have been hoping that it really was in stock and not a big to-do.

Anyway, so the crate was shipped today! Thank goodness. That has to be the best news ever. And I am taking up a new form of scrapbooking that I, myself invented. I’m going to cut things out of magazines and do a little collaging type thing but I’m going to use scrapbook materials and kind of implement the scrapbooking idea into my collages but not going to actually make scrapbooks. Yeah… We’ll see how it turns out! Hah.

Anyway, I gotta get in bed soon. I gotta work in the morning and I was wanting to go play with my new toys before bed. Hope everyone is doing well! And I really hope My Pammie is doing okay!! She recently lost her step father to lung cancer :( Everyone send well wishes to her!

It’s a shame we have to die my dear

Just a quick post before I hit the sack. I’ve been pretty tired the last couple of days. I think the pollen has been really high or something. Allergies have been completely out of control. Yesterday I barely made it out of the house but I had to get some laundry done since our dryer is still not working! Gene and I went over to my parent’s house to get some laundry done but I was worn out after that, even. I sneezed so much when I first woke up that my throat was sore all day and I had temporarily lost my voice.

Astro is growing quickly. Still having about the same number of accidents in the house. Maybe one or two per day, some days he goes with none. But for some reason he has more than that when Gene is watching him than when I’m home to take care of him. Maybe I just have better “motherly instincts” and can tell when he needs to go out ;) He isn’t very good at telling us! Yeah sure, he’ll go to the door but he will stand there and wait for us, not cry. So he ends up peeing right by the door. But I’m really not worried about it because we found this amazing carpet cleaner at Sams, it is by the company 3M and it is called Oxy carpet cleaner, or something to that effect. It is tons cheaper (about $3.50 for 2 32oz bottles!) than OxiClean or whatever. AND IT WORKS! It is the most amazing stuff! We are cleaning up huge, dark stains on the carpet that were left here from the previous renters! Amazing..

Anyway, Astro is getting huge. Him and Emma get along great. Constantly playing and active. I think without Emma he would be a calm, relaxed dog but when she is around, they are both always fighting over a bone. It’s hilarious! And his little farts continue to amuse Gene and I on a daily basis. I am feeding them both the Diamond Large Breed Adult food right now and for their dinner meal, I mix in a little Nutro Natural Choice (I think that is what it is called) large breed canned food. It’s pricey but they like it and I love him and will do anything I can to make them happy!

Gene, The Mysterious Red M and I went to see The 40 Year Old Virgin. Great movie! Laughed my butt off through the entire thing. And it had the absolute best ending to a movie that I have ever seen in a long, long time! I couldn’t have thought of a better ending myself. It was excellent! Anyway, that is really all I have to report on. Need to get in bed in a little bit because Astro has a bad habit of waking me up right at dawn every morning. It is almost like the sun comes out and he thinks its time to get up! Boy can’t wait until winter gets here, lol.

P.S. Because of my lack of creative subject titles for my entries, I think I will start posting lyrics. Today’s subject is features The Foo Fighters, one of the greatest bands ever! Oh, and new layout!

My boy is now 12 weeks old

Astro had his second set of puppy shots this morning. He weighed in at 28 lbs and turned 12 weeks old on Tuesday. He sure is growing fast. Gene and I stopped in at PetsMart to check on the crate we need to get for him (they are always out!) and both of the ladies in there remembered Astro from the last time we went in and they couldn’t believe how much he has grown. Yep, he sure is getting big! And yes, I’d love to pay $100 for puppy training courses, if I had $100 laying around to spend on that. And yeah I’d love to pay another $100 or basic training classes after that but I don’t have $200 laying around. AND SO ON. Stop trying to sell me stuff people! Luckily they didn’t mention puppy courses this time we went in, we were only there briefly to tell the lady to hold a crate for us if it comes in on the shipment.. but the last few times we have been in there, someone from their little training classes apparently has a puppy radar because they tracked us down in the hamster section and began to try to sell us puppy courses.

Anyway, so I’m going in tomorrow morning to see about getting the crate. I will be SO relieved and excited if they have it for us! Gene and I almost had it online.. I decided to wait a couple of days and when I went back to the website it was gone! So I called Petsmart.com and they said it was “seasonal” and they wont be carrying it anymore. Seasonal??? How is a dog crate seasonal?? They must be nuts.

P.S. 12 week photos up on my flickr :D

My first attempt at meatloaf… C+

Work is going to be really busy for the next few weeks! Ever since we had one of our day shift people quit, we are extremely short handed. I’m talking 3 full time people and one extremely-part-time person! Not enough people to run a 24 hour business! I hope we get some good applicants in the next week or so.

Gene has started school. Today was his first day back, yuck! Luckily he only has this 1 semester left, then he will be home free as far as school goes and we can start worrying about finding jobs and whatnot. I don’t know what is worse. Ugh.

Astro is growing and growing! My little baby is getting so big :) Not big around, just really tall. His legs are growing faster than the rest of his body can keep up with. He is still very lean but not too thin. I think he is about on target as far as body weight goes. He goes to the vet on Thursday morning to get his second set of puppy shots. We’ll see what they have to say! Also going to order his crate online in a few days. Gotta get it before the online coupon expires.

And as the title suggest, tonight was my first attempt at meatloaf. It was actually pretty good and had great flavor. The consistency was totally off, though! Next time I wont add milk and I think it will come out absolutely perfect. It had onions, ritz crackers and bell peppers in it. And the topping was delish; mustard, ketchup & brown sugar! Yummy, yummy.

Astro’s official name change: Mister Fart Knocker

Manda totally inspired me to make a new layout! It wasn’t that hard to do, either. She mentioned something about working on a layout and I immediately became overwhelmed with motivation. I also can’t leave out the fact that my love for Gene totally inspired this layout. I just started thinking about my deep love for him and voila :)

Nothing new other than the layout, though! Went over to my parent’s house this evening to use my daddy’s foodsaver to vacuum seal up about 10lbs of hamburger meat & eat some dinner over there. He made up some “Leftover Pizza” (the recipe to that is below) and it was very yummy!

Gene and I went out to mow the yard a few nights ago and we were both covered in Mosquito bites afterwards, him more than me. But somehow, I ended up with all of the itchy ones. I got hardly any sleep at all last night and that was enough to send me to Walgreens this evening to see what else I can put on them. See, the problem is that they are on my feet and if my feet touch the mattress, they start itching right away! Anyway, the pharmacist suggested Benadryl cream and Benadryl caplets, so I got both and I’m dosing up on both before I go to bed this evening! Wish me luck.

P.S. The only update on Astro is that he has been farting a lot in the last couple of days. We haven’t changed his food at all so I’m thinking he is eating weird stuff out in the backyard that is causing it. The loud farts are the funniest! And the silent ones are the deadliest…

A quick little update

I just thought I’d update because I uploaded some pictures to my Flickr of Astro! This week was his 11 week birthday. My boy is getting so big! One of his hind legs that was black when he was a puppy is surprisingly staying black! It is so cute and I’m so glad the black area is growing with him!

We went to the Green Day concert yesterday and had lots of fun! We ate IHOP afterwards and it was so yummy. I was starving by time we ate there. Biscuits and Gravy :) Yum yum! The breakfast of champs.

That is about all for now. Gotta go get in bed soon. After I fill my tummy! I’m hunnngry.
